Harbourlife is Sydney’s most iconic party. Situated on Sydney Harbour’s foreshore, it is the house music event of the year, attracting patrons from around the world. Each year it plays host to a hand-picked selection of international and local house music artists.

I was awarded the opportunity to design the branding for the 2023 show.

The Brief: Create the master artwork for Harbourlife 2023. Appeal to both existing and new patrons, keeping a nautical influence in the design.

The Execution: Drawing inspiration from nautical flags, kaleidoscopes and Defected marketing, I wanted to appeal to the European market as a new audience, seeing as we had a number of artists on the line up and a large number of patrons from England, Ireland and Spain. The nautical theme was carried through with the geometric shapes, reminiscent of those on nautical flags. There was influence from kaleidoscopes in my animation to play into the feeling you get when listening to house music. I tried to make these shapes dance to the track. After all, Harbourlife is a huge party, so why not have the creative feel like one.
